We’re not just another t-shirt printing company.

M5 Textiles started in 2002, but our roots go back far further than that, when our founder Harvey first learnt the screen printing process whilst studying for a Fine Art degree in the late 1960’s. After a short time teaching in the Art Department of a Secondary school he became a part time lecturer at the Central School of Art in London, teaching students print theory and practical skills in textile department.  During that time Harvey started producing printed t-shirts using the equipment in his time off, in what was still a very new and small industry.

As opportunity increased he left his position at the Art School and joined Mc Coy productions and his career in printed t-shirts really began. In those early days Mc Coy was at the forefront of this young industry, producing t-shirts which would now be considered historically important to popular culture. The ‘Choose Life’ and other slogan shirts produced for fashion designer Katherine Hamnett being some of the most notable. It was also at this time Harvey started producing merchandise for the West End shows, something M5 still produces to this day, 40 years on.

A buyout prompted a move to the West Country and back to becoming an employee, now producing 1000’s of Snoopy, Disney and other licensed merchandise, sold in what were then the giants of the British high street. In the 2000’s much of that retail work moved offshore and this is what led to the formation of M5 Textiles.

Our foundation came from craft and expertise not hype, these priorities have always been at the core of the company and continue to be to this day. We are skilled craftsman, with decades of experience, screen printing isn’t just ‘crtl p’, to be good you have to know what you are doing and that’s is what we pride ourselves on. Our clients stay with us for decades and the reasons for this are simple. We are experts, we prioritise reliability, quality and detail.
